How to Get There

There are two great ways to get to Long Point in Provincetown. If you’re an adventurous spirit, you can trek to Long Point on foot. Or, if you’ve wanted an excuse to ride a ferry in the Provincetown harbor, you can do that, too!

Long Point Beach Ferry

The fastest, and easiest, way to the tip of the cape is with a 20-minute Long Point shuttle from Flyer’s Boat Rentals. During the high season, this ferry leaves from MacMillian Pier every hour, on the hour. In the off-season, ferries run every two hours. In addition, the ferry also picks up at the Boatyard dock in the West End at 10 past the hour.

Long Point Provincetown Hike

If you have more time to spend, or want to make your visit to Long Point a true adventure, you can also hike to the area. From MacMillian Pier, you can walk along the Provincetown Causeway. This rocky jetty will take you the beach at Long Point, where you will then walk up the beach to the lighthouse and best parts of Long Point. The Long Point Lighthouse hike is roughly three miles and is a great way to spend a beautiful day outdoors.

Another striking feature of Long Point in Provincetown is the Long Point Lighthouse. Although you can’t go inside the lighthouse, you can view the exterior up close. In addition, there is an adjoining museum and gift shop to visit. It’s not a very big lighthouse, but it is unique, never crowded, and on a beautiful beach.

What to Bring

The beach at Long Point in Provincetown is one of the area’s best kept secrets. Once you make your way to the beach, you won’t want to leave. Because of this, plan to pack anything you might need to set up camp for the day. Pack a picnic, or snacks and cooler filled with treats to enjoy, especially if you’ve hiked your way there.
